Second blog

There is one library service that I am still confused about, and that is checking out laptops and the procedure of keeping them over night. Long story short last year around exam time my laptop had broke and I needed to rent one from the library so I could finish my essay. They told me that I could check it out for twenty four hours then I would need to return it. But when I tried to check it out two days later they told me they did not rent laptops. I am confused do they rent them or do they not.

I am not confused about this course anymore since Ms. Critten explained the overview of the course; however, I am still worried about some of the assignments that we will be doing in the class.  I am most excited about becoming hands on with the activities that’s in the syllabus. One of the activities that we are about to do before the next class period is the video of two people going up to the reference desk in the library. The purpose of this assignment is to let the teacher know we are up to date with using the library to our advantage.

  2. Dear Mr. Williams-Macon,

When you rent a laptop for 24 hours, you have to return it within the 24 hours. I assume you brought it back in time so there is no reason for them to withhold a laptop from you.

Also, very excited to start the hands-on projects that she planned for us. This is a great opportunity to learn more about the library before we would need to type the big term paper or finish the big project.

  3. Hi Kadarius,

I think what they might have meant was that you can check out laptops, but you have to keep them in the library.

I hope that you do not stress out too much about the hands-on things! They are designed to help you learn by doing--I can tell you about the reference desk, but don't you think you'd learn more about it if you actually used it? :)

    All best,
    Jessica
